How To Reset and Reconnect with Your Loved Ones in Spirit

Grief, love and our ability to better understand our connection
One of my clients, Isabelle, reached out to me by email last week with a concern.
"I can't feel my sister around me anymore. I don't get anything. What's wrong with me? What can I do?"
I hear this often from clients. And every time I do, my heart goes out to the person asking — because buried beneath that question is a belief that they're somehow broken.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The following day, I happened to meet a client — now a dear friend for a quick tea.
An hour in, cups long empty, completely lost in conversation until she leaned forward.
I could see the concern in her eyes.
"Christie, I don't always feel that connection with my brother. And when I do, I don't trust it. How do I shift that?"
I looked at her and smiled.
Interesting I thought. Two people, same week, same concern.
It was time to offer an explanation — and suggestions.
"It's like tuning a car radio and landing on the right station. The static fades, the song comes through — and there it is."
Our loved ones will never stop reaching out.
Our connection is forever.
Sometimes we just need a “reset” and understand that they may communicate in more than one way. Both in the seen and unseen world.
What do I mean by a reset?
Everything is energy. Everything.
The human form has a powerful rhythmic electromagnetic field — often called the 'auric field' in many cultures. Science tells us this field expands about sixteen feet from the body. I disagree.
In my experience over the past twenty years, through work with missing people and animals, remote viewing, and mediumship, this field is infinite. It is not bound by time or space.
This infinite field is Consciousness. A beautiful connection to the Universe. It's where everything is united — including our loved ones in spirit. All part of the whole, unified field.
It's also where intuition thrives.
Everything has its own energetic frequency, like a radio signal, and it can be affected by static.
As human beings, that static is created by our emotions. Emotions either disrupt this field or strengthen it.
Grief, anger, stress, worry, frustration — these aren't 'bad' emotions, they're very human ones. But they can interact with our ability to feel things, including loved ones in spirit. (technology is another disruptor)
The human heart and the capacity to love both hold a powerful field that can reach worlds beyond our own. When we shift into appreciation, compassion, love, joy, or gratitude — the field expands. The static clears. That's the good vibe. And it's something we can always find our way back to. Dr. David Hawkins MD/PHD explores the impact of emotions and consciousness and the Map of Consciousness in his book, Power vs. Force.
It supports our ability to feel and perceive other energies, beings, and loved ones in the afterlife (spirit).

I offered my friend a suggestion.
I asked her to pull up a song on her phone. One that reminded her of her brother.
She scrolled for a moment, then pressed play — and before the first verse was even finished, her eyes were bright and her whole body had changed. Her energy shifted.
"There," I said gently. "Listen to that song.
Close your eyes and really feel it move you."
This experience is what helps our heart radiate love — and that produces the most powerful magnetic field there is. One that can be felt across the room, the city, and worlds beyond our own.
"That's the frequency — the station, the channel — you want to be in. Stay there."
Then go to a memory. Be there with him. Be in that moment.
That's a great place to start, I suggested.

And so, Isabelle, I gently explained, “There’s nothing wrong with you. You are not broken. You are not blocked. You’re simply a little out of tune — like a radio searching for the right frequency. Sometimes we just need help finding the signal again.”
I continued, “We can always, always find our way back to this relationship. Love does not disappear simply because someone is no longer physically here. In many ways, the connection continues — just differently.”
“Sometimes a song, a scent, a favorite photograph, or even a memory becomes the bridge. These small moments have a way of opening the heart and bringing us back into connection with what we thought we had lost.”
“Then take that feeling and ask for guidance. Imagine what he’d say — and how he’d say it.”
“Does that make sense?” I asked.
“Yes, absolutely,” she laughed. “I can already hear him nonchalantly telling me to chill.”
Need a few other suggestions, here's where to begin:
Start with a favorite song. Close your eyes and listen without distraction.
Breathe in love, peace and goodness. Exhale the mucky stuff out.
List out 10 things you're grateful for (add more over time).
Connect with the earth. Step outside and go to a place that lifts you up.
Try one of my guided meditations to help create that interconnectedness
These aren't just feel-good suggestions. They genuinely raise your energy, your frequency, your vibe. And by doing that, you don't just change yourself — you positively influence everything around you. People, animals, nature. A ripple effect.

Here's another idea.
Our loved ones communicate in different ways. One day it could be a bright red Cardinal that shows up constantly. A visit that feels strange or out of the ordinary. Finding a dime (Why Do I Keep Finding Dimes: The Spiritual Meaning Behind These Little Miracles)
That was one of my first experiences after my mother passed — long before I knew birds were messengers. And yet I knew. I just knew it was her.
This week it was a robin. And a few nights ago, she showed up in a dream at our cottage. It wasn't a past memory — it was a new one, with a new message. One that was directly connected to a decision I needed to make this week.
They find a way to us. It’s not always going to use the same signal, symbol, or sign.
It could be a synchronized event, a new signal that only we would understand.
When you get stuck, find a quiet moment. Send out a thought, a question. Ask your loved one to show you how they communicate with you. This is called telepathy — a transfer of thought from one person to another, across time and space.
And if you're not sure where to start — explore a memory of a time as a child. What was
your favorite thing to do? Try to recreate that experience.
What song really moves you — what would you choose?
